“Modern Family’s” Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband looked super adorbs at the Emmys
Is there honestly anything cuter than getting to watch our favorite celebrity couples on the red carpet at an awards show? Aside from getting to see celebs looking their best in custom couture, it’s definitely the most fun part of any red carpet event… and the 2016 Emmys were no exception. Among the cutest couples spotted at this year’s show obviously has to be Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband, Justin Mikita, who looked too cute for the big night.
Jesse and his hubby were there to celebrate Modern Family’s four nominations, and though the show didn’t end up snagging any awards, the couple seemed happy to also celebrate the show’s eighth season premiere (!!) this week, and the two were spotted enjoying the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from host Jimmy Kimmel’s mom during the ceremony. Can you blame them? Check out their red carpet looks — the duo donned perfectly coordinated tuxes, Justin’s in blue and Jesse’s in brown. Their cuteness is simply off the charts.

Patrick Dempsey reveals that he coaches his sons’ soccer team, makes us fall in love with him even more
Though we’re still heartbroken over the fact that Patrick Dempsey is no longer gracing our TV screens every Thursday night on Grey’s Anatomy, we’re thrilled that he’s making the interview rounds to promote Bridget Jones’s Baby. Because all the world really needs is more Dempsey all the time, amirite?!
And when Dempsey stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss the movie?
Well, he mentioned that his 14-year-old daughter Talula went with him to the film’s premiere – even though the subject matter is slightly mature for a freshman in high school. His twin sons (Sullivan and Darby) were lucky enough to get a private screening, but pretty much checked out of the movie 10 minutes in. (They’re only nine years old, so we get it.)
However, Dempsey did say that his boys skipped soccer practice to join him for his appearance on Kimmel, and that he’s been trying to juggle his acting career with coaching duties for the boys’ soccer team. That’s when Kimmel asked Dempsey what kind of coach he is and he responded, effusively:
“Passionate! McScreamy. [laughs] I get very passionate, certainly.”
They Grey’s Anatomy said he tries not to yell at the games, but occasionally argues with the referees, who are all under the age of 15. Dempsey stated,
“I feel that [with] my age and my presence, I can intimidate them to get the call in the direction that I’d like.”
He says it never actually works, but hey, we give him points for trying. LOL.
Dempsey added that he’s never been kicked out of a game, but it’s come close. He continued, “It’s funny how you get kinda pumped up [in an effort to] teach the fundamentals of the game [right away].” (Aww.)
All seriousness aside, Dempsey revealed that he does joke around with the kids on the field. “I try to keep it fun so that they enjoy it,” which Kimmel insisted is a no-no, after learning this the hard way by coaching his son’s Little League team.
Mel B’s daughter looks like she’s training to become a mini Spice Girl
Mel B (aka Scary Spice, obvs) certainly has a ton on her plate these days. As she’s juggling hosting duties for the fourth time on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent with the kinda-sorta Spice Girls reunion in honor of their 20-year anniversary (OMG!), she’s also a mom of three and a certified fitness queen. Is there anything she can’t do? (The answer, of course, is a resounding no.)
Last night, our favorite sassy Spice Girl mixed work duties with mom duties in the best way – she brought her daughter, Madison, for an awesome red carpet photo-op before a taping of AGT at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Of course, Mel herself looked stunning as per usual, but it was little cutie Madison that stole the show because…
She seriously looks like a mini Spice Girl-in-training, and it’s so adorable.

The mommy-daughter night out could have been an early birthday present for Madison, as she turns five tomorrow (aw!). Plus, she looked perfectly Spicy in her grey tulle dress with shiny silver sneakers to match. All she needs is a platform on those kicks and a microphone, and we’ve got a next generation Spice Girl on our hands.
Even though her mom is Scary Spice, it actually seems that Madison is more of a fan of Ginger!

Here’s what really goes down in the audience at the VMAs
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to actually be in the audience at an awards show? What it would feel like to be surrounded by so many celebrities, getting to see incredible speeches and watch pop culture history unfold right in front of your very eyes? I certainly always did and never dreamed I actually could, until last night, when I had the privilege of attending the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
Yep, ladies and gentlemen… I got to realize a lifelong dream of actually being in the audience at one of music’s biggest nights, and I can honestly say it’s totally different from what you see go down when you’re watching from the comfort of your couch, snacks in hand, ready to live tweet your commentary. It’s incredibly cool to be behind-the-scenes, and as both a music lover and a pop culture enthusiast, it’s an experience I’ll never forget. Here are the things that really went down at Madison Square Garden last night that viewers at home didn’t get to see.
Celebrities don’t take their seats until 10 minutes (or less!) before the show starts.

If you have images in your mind of celebrities anxiously waiting in their front row seats for a long time prior to the first performance of the night, well I’m sad to say that most of the big names don’t scurry in until the very last minute, likely creating some high tension moments for the behind-the-scenes crew as they prepare to set up their shots.
At first, spotting celebs is exciting, but by the end of the night, you’re over it.

I was positioned in a spot where I had a clear view of all the front row celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and Ariana Grande and Mac Miller, and for the first hour or so, I couldn’t stop staring at them — how did they react to each moment? Would they share PDA? Would they start texting or leave to use the bathroom? But by the end of the night, you’re actually kinda used to it, which is such a weird feeling.
Celebrities look pretty much exactly like you’d imagine them to IRL.
It’s honestly dizzying to be in the presence of so much celebrity, but also comforting to see that they look pretty much exactly the same as they do in photos or on TV. It’s also so weird to see them in their “off” moments, like catching Ariana and Mac whispering and holding hands looking so in love.
Kanye was heckled during his infamous 4-minute speech.
Although ‘Ye received plenty of rave reviews and applause for his moment onstage, TV cameras didn’t catch a group of individuals heckling him quite loudly. West did address them, but carried on in true Kanye fashion like it ain’t no thang. Bless him.
There’s a *lot* of downtime involved.
Kanye lookin’ bored. Same.
One of the things that surprised me is how many commercial breaks there were, leaving the audience to their own devices. So what happens when the cameras aren’t rolling? I can safely say that someone approached Kim for a selfie approximately every 7 seconds, and she happily obliged each time. Such a trouper. Aside from that, celebs hobnob with each other, meeting old friends and new, and posing for pictures aplenty. Some sipped from their drinks (Nick Jonas!) and others mindlessly texted until the “10 seconds to air…” call came over the speakers.
It’s a long night for all involved.
Ariana and her posse all sipped iced coffee from Starbucks cups, and with good reason — awards shows are long. It was kind of bizarre to see famous attendees yawning and looking totally bored, or leaving early to hit up the crazy after parties. All in a day’s work.
Enthusiasm dwindled… quickly.
Even though it looks like the energy in Madison Square Garden was infectious on TV, the truth is that the pit handlers had to chide us several times for not giving enough energy… and the celebrities felt it, too. Especially when a newcomer was performing, but even during Rihanna’s first performance when Kanye had to convince people to rise in their seats, sometimes it was hard for the audience to engage in the moment. In the pit audience’s defense, it was definitely caused by standing on line outside in the late August heat, paired with being smushed into a tight crowd, and lack of access to a restroom for several hours… by the end, we all wanted to peace out and hit the sheets. Or if you’re like me, you hastily grabbed a street vendor hot dog and a bottle of water before catching a train home.
But there’s nothing more incredible than watching history in the making.
Their kiss gave me life.
Though there were some slow moments, I can honestly say that there was nothing more electric than watching Beyoncé’s epic Lemonade medley, or many of my favorite performers (BRITNEY!) up close and personal like that. I thoroughly enjoyed all the performances, and it’s impossible not to scream your lungs out when you have some of the top names in music putting on their best show right in front of you. You definitely forget how tired you are or how much your feet hurt, and you realize how incredible it actually is to be living in that moment. And you’d do anything to do it all again.
Ariana Grande was perfectly chill when she was asked about that donut licking thing at the VMAs
Remember that time last summer when Ariana Grande came under fire for saying on camera that she “hates Americans” while in a donut shop, then proceeding to lick a donut on the shop’s counter? It’s one of those things that critics of Grande can’t seem to let go, despite a pretty effusive apology statement expressing her regret for the incident. Grande’s reputation has mostly been cleared from “donutgate” in the time since then, despite a few setbacks, like a prevailing rumor that Grande was taken out of consideration to perform at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in the aftermath of the incident.
Well, one MTV correspondent simply couldn’t help but bring up a donut joke when interviewing Grande at the pre-show to the 2016 Video Music Awards, and Grande handled it like the boss queen she is. During their interview, Charlamagne said, “Now, look, you can’t go around here licking no pastries tonight. OK?”
Ariana quickly jumped in, responding, “Oh, OK. I’ll keep it in mind.”
Then he asked about her rumored boyfriend Mac Miller, who joined her later on in the show. Charlamagne asked, “And you’re alone? Where the boo at?”
“Being supportive,” she said. Inexplicably, he laughed, and Grande gently reminded him: “It’s OK to be alone even when you have a boo!”
Quvenzhané Wallis looked like a mini Beyoncé on last night’s red carpet
Guys, Quvenzhané Wallis is only 13 years old, and we need to talk about the fact that she’s already a fashion icon. The actress, whose voice will next appear on the big screen in Trolls this fall, joined Beyoncé on the red carpet for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. At the event, Queen Bey was up for 11 awards (for her iconic visual album, Lemonade) and she graciously decided to share her moment on the red carpet with many of the ladies who appeared in the HBO special back in April.
Aside from Wallis, Bey was joined by fellow Lemonade ladies Chloe and Halle Bailey, Ava Clarke, Winnie Harlow, Trayvon Martin’s mother (Sybrina Fulton), Michael Brown’s mother (Lezley McSpadden), and Oscar Grant’s mother (Wanda Johnson). It was a powerful show of feminism for all the ladies involved, and especially for Wallis, who was one of the youngest girl bosses in the stunning group.
Wallis even tweeted her joyful reaction to Bey’s 15-minute Lemonade performance, having the same reaction we all did when she took the stage.

All the Lemonade ladies looked gorgeous on the carpet, but we couldn’t help noticing that Quvenzhané looked just like a mini Beyoncé in her white, lacy dress – and we’re obsessed. This little lady has all the makings for a future in slaydom…

All eyes were on Britney Spears at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, and with good reason — Spears was set to take the VMA stage after nine long years, and her performances have been sorely missed in the time since then. Of course, Spears is hot on the heels of a whirlwind promotional tour for her ninth studio album, Glory, and it’s always great to see her doin’ her thing on the VMA stage.
Britney was in perfect form last night, slaying her appearance both on the red carpet and in her actual performance with G-Eazy. It’s always great for die hard Brit fans to see her looking radiant and happy, and last night was no exception. But perhaps no one fangirled harder over Ms. Spears than her former Calabasas neighbor, Kim Kardashian.
Kim has never been shy about her love of the pop princess, even tweeting back in 2009 with three exclamation points to boot:
The two ladies shared plenty of love on social media ahead of last night’s show, with Kardashian teasing that she’d be presenting someone she’s “obsessed” with.

Kim showered praise on Britney, presenting her as she took the stage for an electric performance, but it’s the amazing moment that happened backstage that solidified these two as our favorite new BFFs. Kim Kardashian basically ignored Kanye so she could obsess over Beyoncé at the VMAs, and we get it
Like the rest of the world, even Kim Kardashian isn’t immune to the power of Beyoncé. It’s safe to say that this year’s MTV Video Music Awards basically belonged to Queen Bey, and she even made VMA history by winning eight awards, bringing her grand total of silver Moonmen to a staggering 25. (Where does she store them all? Serious question!) Between her stunning red carpet look, her epic surprise 15-minute performance of many of her already iconic Lemonade jams, and all her wins, she pretty much set Madison Square Garden on fire. Kardashian was among those praying at the altar of the Beyhive last night, and cameras caught a hilarious moment between Kardashian and her husband, Kanye West, during her acceptance speech for Video of the Year.
West was in good spirits during the show, despite having lost both awards he was nominated for. Still, when he lost the highly coveted Video of the Year award for “Famous” to Bey’s “Formation,” he tried to seek solace in the arms of his loving wife. But Kim was understandably mesmerized and seemed a bit… peeved when ‘Ye went in for a hug.
Taylor Swift’s cat is staring out her apartment window and people are losing their minds

At this point, we’re pretty used to getting regular news updates on what Taylor Swift is up to on any given day. Even when she’s seemingly lying low in the aftermath of a social media war with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, she manages to make headlines about her lack of appearances in public or on social media. It’s got to be dizzying to be one of the most famous public figures in the world.
And what’s even crazier is that not even Swift’s cats – Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey – are immune to public attention.
Of course, Swift’s undying love for her two cats, by way of social media posts, have made them cuddly little celebs in their own right, so it’s not surprising that they’ve developed quite a fandom all on their own. Taylor’s simply a proud cat mom, and she loves sharing hilarious moments of her furry friends at any opportunity.
Apparently, Meredith Grey is such a star in her own right that fans have spotted her staring at them through the windows of Taylor’s $40k-a-month NYC apartment – and people are appropriately freaking the hell out.
One fan, @rikkicondos, posted a series of live tweets upon the realization that Meredith had her eyes firmly on them… and the reactions are hysterical.

Taylor Swift’s birthday message to Blake Lively is outrageously cute
Blake Lively celebrated her 29th birthday yesterday, and the real-life Disney princess was showered with love on social media by friends, family, and fans, including her hubby Ryan Reynolds, who obviously wins the award for funniest “happy birthday” tweet of all time. Reynolds may win the humor game, but it’s Lively’s good friend Taylor Swift who wins for cutest birthday message, all thanks to a baby koala.
Swift, who is no stranger to posting adorable birthday shots to her famous friends (she recently celebrated besties Karlie Kloss and Selena Gomez on Instagram, too!), took to social media to send Lively the sweetest wishes on her big day, sharing a shot of the two of them making friends with an over-the-top cute koala.
The photo, which was taken in Australia back in December 2015, also has the sweetest caption. Swift wrote, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLAKE! You’re a wonderful friend, to humans and koalas alike. I absolutely love you ”
And just for some good #FBF memories, check out the other Instagram shots that Swift and Lively posted from their jaw-dropping trip. At the time, Lively was shooting her movie, The Shallows, so she met up with her pal during the Australian leg of her 1989 World Tour, according to PEOPLE. They hung out at the Warner Bros. Movie World theme park in Queensland and also took selfies with a kangaroo.
