After its record-breaking release in 2017, few were surprised that "It" would get a sequel.

The big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's 1986 novel crushed it at the box office, becoming the biggest movie debut in the month of September and the highest-grossing horror movie ever made, according to Box Office Mojo.

After dominating at the worldwide box office, the movie's sequel, "It Chapter Two" was announced within weeks of its initial release. Here's everything we know about the forthcoming film, which will hit theaters on September 6.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

'It' saw unprecedented success, especially for a September release, and 'Chapter Two' will bring horror fans back to the theater after Labor Day

September is typically considered a "dump month" in cinemas, largely because summer vacations are over, kids are back to school, and big-budget blockbusters are on their way out for the season.

But just as "It" defied expectations by becoming the highest-grossing horror movie and the biggest September debut in box office history, "It Chapter Two" will help bring life to a typically sluggish month at the movies.

The first film only told half the story and the sequel will chronicle the second part of it

King's novel spans two different time periods: the summer of 1958, when the Losers Club are kids, and 27 years later, in the summer of 1985, when they're adults.

Since the first film chronicled the first half, set instead in 1989, the second half will pick up in 2016, bringing the Losers Club back to modern-day Derry, this time as adults determined to ward off evil for good and prevent another rash of killings.

We'll see plenty of familiar faces, along with the original cast of child actors

Director Andy Muschietti is back on board for "Chapter Two" and he told Entertainment Weekly in 2017 that even though the sequel will focus on Pennywise's return to Derry in 2016, we'll still see all the younger kids by way of flashback scenes.

"On the second movie, that dialogue between timelines will be more present," he said. "If we're telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the '80s and inform the story in the present day."

There are several familiar faces playing the Losers all grown up, including Jessica Chastain as Beverly, James McAvoy as Bill, and Bill Hader as Richie.

Bill Skarsgård will reprise his role as Pennywise the Clown and Jackson Robert Scott will return as the dearly departed Georgie in the form of It.

Warner Bros. released a three-minute long teaser trailer on May 10

In a teaser trailer released by Warner Bros. on May 10, Chastain's Bev can be seen visiting her old childhood home, where the unsettling Mrs. Kersh now resides. The elderly woman is a character from the novel that fans will surely remember.

Beverly is invited in for tea, quickly growing uneasy by the old family photos on the walls, in which she spots Pennywise more than once.

"You know what they say about Derry — no one who dies here ever really dies," Mrs. Kersh chillingly tells her, revealing a glimpse of her rotting flesh beneath her blouse.

As Mrs. Kersh tells her about her father that joined the circus after coming to the United States, things get downright terrifying, proving that the scares will remain aplenty in the next installment.

Beverly can also be seen reunited with the Losers Club as they see flashback reflections of themselves as children, as they revisit their old stomping grounds to try and take It down.

There are several familiar elements, including Georgie's yellow raincoat, his handmade paper boat in the sewer drain, and missing person signs scattered around the buildings of Derry. And, yes, there is no shortage of floating red balloons to go around.

The crew is back in town after learning about It's latest killing spree

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter after the teaser trailer was released, screenwriter Gary Dauberman revealed that the story will "try to be true to the novel." Although we'll have to wait and see just how true to the book's second act the sequel will stay, we do know a few tidbits about what to expect, plot-wise.

Dauberman confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that a brutal hate crime scene from the novel in which a gay character named Adrian Mellon (Xavier Dolan) is violently attacked by homophobic kids will be featured in the film.

He said, "It is the first attack in present-day Derry and sets the stage for what Derry has become. It is the influence of Pennywise even while he is hibernating, and it's pure evil what happens to Adrian. These bullies working through Pennywise was important for us to show."

losers club it chapter 2

Screenwriter Gary Dauberman told Cinema Blend that the Losers Club as adults will defeat Pennywise in a metaphysical ritual called 'the Ritual of Chüd,' taken directly from the book

"The Ritual of Chüd is challenging, but it's such an important component to the book that we had to address it," Dauberman said.

"That stuff is difficult to balance, but because [director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti and I] worked with each other before, when I'm writing pages and all that stuff it becomes more of a conversation and less like, 'Hey, here's what I did.' It's sort of organic; it's really kind of just chipping away at the stone and trying to find the most focused, accessible way into some of more metaphysical aspects of that book."

Another iconic scene from the book in which the adult Losers Club meets at a Chinese restaurant will be part of the film, as Dauberman told SlashFilm in September 2018.

He also confirmed to THR that Beverly's experiences with domestic violence will be part of the plot, and she can be seen with bruises on her arm in the teaser trailer.

Horror fans should expect plenty of gore and graphic imagery

Though it hasn't received an official MPAA rating just yet, it seems likely that "Chapter Two" will follow in the footsteps of "It" and receive an R rating.

Chastain told Jimmy Fallon in February that there will be no shortage of blood.

"In the movie, there's a scene that someone said on set that it's the most blood that's ever been in a horror film in a scene. And I'll tell you, the next day I was like pulling blood out of my eyeballs. Fake blood," they said.

Dauberman confirmed the levels of blood, telling THR that "Chapter Two" is "definitely bloodier than the first and it is just as scary, if not scarier. The two movies feel like a complete whole. This feels like a natural progression and extension of the first."

The movie is currently in post-production and King is on board

Filming on "It Chapter Two" fittingly wrapped on Halloween 2018, per an Instagram post from director Andy Muschietti, and IMDb lists it as in post-production. Ahead of the teaser trailer, King tweeted, "I've seen it, and it's terrific."

So far, it seems 'It Chapter Two' will be the end of the story

Per a tweet from the film's official Twitter account, it seems this will not be a trilogy, with Dauberman seemingly confirming this to SlashFilm.

"No, this is a complete story," he said. "The ending I think will satisfy the audience and maybe break their hearts a little bit."

Here’s how Jennifer Lopez keeps her hair shiny and healthy

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez has been a beauty and style icon for more than 20 years, setting trends in fitness, fashion, and beauty every time she hits the red carpet.

While she's never afraid to change up her look and try daring hairstyles — like a floor-grazing long ponytail or animal print hair color — one thing is always certain: Lopez's hair always looks shiny and healthy.

Along with her go-to hair gurus, Lopez has been open about how she maintains her hair's health, revealing that she uses a mix of high-end products and drugstore staples to keep her strands in tip-top shape despite lots of styling.

Lopez feels sexiest when she's rocking one particular hairstyle

Frequently listed on the top of many beauty lists, fans love Lopez's hair in all kinds of styles, from straight and sleek to bangs and bouncy curls. But Lopez told People magazine in 2016 that she feels sexiest "when my hair is curly and I'm a little bit tan."

jennifer lopez

Lopez is open about having a professional on call, but she also relies on drugstore staples

Lopez loved products by her late stylist, Oribe Canales, who told Shape magazine in 2014 some of the secrets behind their working relationship. He used Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray on Lopez, which retails for $42.

And one of Lopez's hair stylists, Lorenzo Martin, told Harper's Bazaar Arabia in 2016 that some of the affordable staples he keeps in his arsenal include L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray and Psssst! Dry Shampoo, both of which retail for under $15.

Of the powder spray, Martin said, "I use it every single day on almost every single client, every photo shoot. It's the original Dry Shampoo from the 1960s! … By your fourth day, it will absorb all the oil. That's my go-to product — love, love, love it."

She keeps things low-key on her off days

When Lopez is not working, you won't find her in full hair and makeup, as she favors a more low-key look featuring buns, ponytails, hats, and headscarves, whether she's hanging with loved ones, relaxing by the pool or headed to the airport.

She credits her Bronx roots for sticking with her favorite off-duty styles, telling InStyle magazine in 2018, "Everything about growing up in the Bronx influenced me and is still with me today. I still wear big hoops and a lot of jewelry, whether it's with a couture gown or with Timberlands. Also, how I do my hair. I'm still a ponytail, bun-on-top-of-your-head girl, which is all very Puerto Rican Bronx."

Lopez has changed up her hair color over the years, but largely keeps her honey blonde highlights intact

The "Second Act" star has worked with celebrity colorist Rita Hazan for years, and though Lopez started out her career with a natural deep brown shade, it was Hazan that suggested that she lighten up her look.

In 2014, Hazan told Glamour magazine, "I felt like [the dark brown] was too harsh for her skin tone and her personality. I created a honey-highlighted hair color for her and people went crazy over it." Of a summer 2014 switch-up, the stylist revealed, "I gave her a chocolate base with golden blond highlights and used my Ultimate Shine Blond Gloss on her. The darker base adds contrast to give her a cooler, edgier look."

Jennifer Lopez

She first spotted gray hairs at the age of 23 and touches up her color frequently

In 2011, Lopez told People magazine that she first started getting gray hair in her early 20s, "I was prematurely gray at 23. I have to have [my roots] touched up every couple of weeks. I'm kind of tempted to one day just let it go. It'd be kind of exciting! Maybe someday we'll go really far away for like two months and I'm just going to see what it looks like."

She's not afraid of a drastic last-minute switch-up

Ahead of her appearance at the 2018 Met Gala in which she rocked a sleek, shoulder-grazing blowout, Martin told Allure magazine that the look came together at the last minute. "We cut it today, she said she wanted something different and the designer wanted something different. We wanted it to look fresh."

He added, "We just decided it [the day of the event], like an hour and a half before she left. I didn't even know, she didn't even know we were doing it either."

jennifer lopez

She's also a big fan of mile-long locks thanks to extensions

Though she'll sport a cropped look from time to time, Lopez also loves seriously long hair — in fact, per a post on his Instagram page, Appleton used 50-inch-long hair extensions on the "Jenny from the Block" singer at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2018.

She's also tried out floor-length braids and waves, with Appleton crediting Hidden Crown Hair extensions to help create the jaw-dropping looks. Martin has used extensions by Great Lengths USA on the "I'm Real" singer.

An adorable video shows Kate Middleton explaining to a young fan why she wasn’t in a ‘Princess Elsa dress’

kate middleton

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William were in Cumbria, England on Wednesday to meet with farming and agriculture workers, discussing the challenges that farmers in the rural areas are facing.
  • The couple was on hand at the Deepdale Hall Farm where they helped with sheep shearing, herding, and dry stone walling.
  • Middleton was dressed down in a jacket, trousers, and boots for the farm visit.
  • A young fan's father said that his daughter was wondering if Middleton would be wearing a "Princess Elsa dress."

Kate Middleton and Prince William paid a visit to the English countryside on Wednesday, arriving in Cumbria to meet with farming and agriculture workers, discussing the challenges that farmers in the rural areas are facing.

According to Kensington Palace's official Twitter page, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began their visit in Keswick, where they were greeted by well-wishers lining the streets, before making their way to Deepdale Hall Farm in Cumbria to meet with local farming families.

Cameras caught the parents of three meeting with a local family. Middleton can be seen complimenting a little girl on her plaited hairstyle, remarking that she tried to braid Princess Charlotte's hair that morning but "it didn't really work very well."

As she and her sister handed the Duchess two bouquets of flowers, their dad said of Middleton, "It's a princess. You love princesses!" before adding, "She wanted to know if you'd be wearing your Princess Elsa dress."

Middleton, who was dressed casually for the occasion, responded, "I know. I'm sorry. I came in my trousers and my coat because I'm going to see some sheep."

Of course, the Duchess is known for wearing Disney princess-inspired gowns, frequently taking fashion inspiration from Elsa from "Frozen." But a Cinderella-style ballgown perhaps wasn't the best option for a day at the farm.

Royal style blog What Kate Wore reported that her casual look consisted of an olive green lightweight jacket by Troy London, before changing into a similar jacket by Barbour.

As INSIDER previously noted, she wore a white shirt with a ruffled collar, which seemed to be a subtle tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

She also wore black denim and Berghaus Supalite II GTX Walking Boots for the farm visit, keeping her hair in a ponytail — a definite departure from her recent glamorous looks at Trooping the Colour and the princess gown she donned for her meeting with the Trumps.

Aside from meeting with farmers, the couple was on hand to help with sheep shearing, herding, and dry stone walling.

15 times Martha Stewart got brutally honest about other celebrities and all of your favorite things

Blake Lively Martha Stewart

  • Martha Stewart definitely isn't afraid to speak her mind.
  • She has publicly shared her opinion about lots of celebrities and companies.
  • Stewart has had opinions about Rachel Ray, Blake Lively, Donald Trump, and others.
  • Visit INSIDER's homepage for more stories.

With an empire that has, at one point or another, amassed a staggering $2 billion, Martha Stewart has firmly cemented her status as one of the most successful businesswomen of all time. Between her Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia empire — which includes magazines, TV shows, and endorsement deals — as well as branded books, home and decorating products, and meal delivery services, there are few domestic realms she hasn't put her signature touch on.

And while the Stewart stamp of approval is one of the most trusted in the business, the mogul is also known for her honesty. She's never afraid to share her thoughts, and she rarely minces words. From fellow lifestyle gurus like Gwyneth Paltrow and Rachael Ray to Donald Trump, Stewart has shared her real opinion about plenty of celebrities over the years.

These are the 15 times she has been brutally honest.

SEE ALSO: Martha Stewart said she doesn't know what Goop is

FOLLOW US: INSIDER is on Facebook

She's had a longstanding feud with Goop creator and actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Stewart reportedly fired the first shots at Paltrow's lifestyle and media brand, Goop, in 2013. According to Us Weekly, she said in an interview with Bloomberg TV, "I haven't eaten at Gwyneth's house, and I've never seen how she lives. But if she is authentic, all the better. I mean, I certainly hope she is," Stewart said, adding, "She really wants to be part of the lifestyle business … She's a charming, pretty person who has a feeling for lifestyle. She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter. Fine. Good. I think I started this whole category of lifestyle."

Then in a 2014 interview with Net-a-Porter's Porter magazine, according to Page Six, Stewart said of Paltrow, "She just needs to be quiet. She's a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart."

That same year, Stewart featured a "conscious coupling" pie recipe in her magazine, seemingly a dig at Paltrow's infamous divorce announcement from then-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, which described the relationship as a "conscious uncoupling."

Paltrow seemed to return the favor a month later by featuring a recipe for "jailbird cake" on Goop, a perhaps not-so-subtle dig at Stewart's 2004 stint in prison for insider trading charges.

Later in 2014, former Martha Stewart Living CEO Lisa Gersh joined the Goop team as CEO. A day later, Paltrow jokingly discussing the "feud" with Us Weekly, saying "No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I'm shocked and devastated," Paltrow said sarcastically. "I'll try to recover."

She added, "If I'm really honest, I'm so psyched that she sees us as competition. I'm so psyched. I really am. At this point in my life, I don't take it personally."

This feud seemed to simmer until September 2017, when Stewart appeared on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen." A caller questioned Stewart about the accusations against Goop's health claims, which have been controversial. First, Stewart quipped, "Who's Goop?" before saying, "No, that's not true. She's a good girl."

Stewart said she doesn't quite understand the "Lean In" phenomenon.

Ever since its 2013 release, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's book "Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead" has been touted as a way to inspire a generation of women to assert themselves in the workforce.

But in that same Porter magazine interview, Stewart seemed to think that Sandberg's "lean in" concept is a waste of women's time. She reportedly said, "Too much time is spent ... Isn't 'leaning in' spending a lot of time? ... I think being entrepreneurial is something women should strive for, rather than working up the corporate ladder."

But it seems the two buried the hatchet pretty quickly because just weeks later, Stewart shared an Instagram photo of herself posing arm in arm with Sandberg at the Facebook headquarters.

You won't find "Orange Is the New Black" on her Netflix queue.

Even though Netflix's hit series was inspired by Piper Kerman's real-life experiences in a women's correctional institute in Danbury, Connecticut — where Stewart reportedly asked to spend her time after her 2004 sentencing — the famous prisoner isn't a fan of the show loosely based on Kerman's real-life experiences, nor is she a fan of Taylor Schilling's performance as Kerman.

She reportedly told Porter magazine, "They could have done that so much better. That girl is not good enough, the lead actress," adding, "I met the real Piper [Kerman]. She was in prison either the same time or after me, and I talked to her about it."

Then, when inmate Judy King joined the fictional Litchfield and bore more than a little bit of resemblance to Stewart's real-life story in season four, Stewart doubled down on her distaste for the show. In a 2016 appearance on Chelsea Handler's Netflix show, "Chelsea" the talk show host asked Stewart if she watched "OITNB."

When she said she didn't, Handler asked, "Too close to home?" to which Stewart explained,
"I experienced the real thing. When you live through something like 'Orange is the New Black,' the real characters are better."

She took a dig at fellow chef and TV personality Rachael Ray.

Ray has built a lifestyle empire of her own, thanks to her syndicated daytime TV talk show, magazines, cookbooks, and more, but it seems that Stewart isn't impressed with Ray's cookbook writing skills.

In a 2009 interview with ABC News' "Nightline," Stewart reportedly said of Ray, "Well, to me, she professed that she could — cannot bake," adding, "She just did a new cookbook which is just a re-edit of a lot of her old recipes ... And that's not good enough for me."

When Stewart pens a book, she said she aims to create "a unique and lasting thing. Something that will really fulfill a need in someone's library." Ray, she says, "is different," and is "more of an entertainer … with her bubbly personality, than she is a teacher, like me. That's not what she's professing to be."

As for how Ray perceived Stewart's comments? She took it all in stride, reportedly saying, "Why would it make me mad? Her skill set is far beyond mine. That's simply the reality of it."

Ray added that "doesn't mean that what I do isn't important too … I don't consider it needling. I really just think she's being honest. She does have a better skill set than I do when it comes to producing a beautiful, perfect, high-quality meal." She quipped, "I'd rather eat Martha's than mine, too."

Stewart inadvertently threw shade at Kim Kardashian West's best friend Jonathan Cheban.

In one of her most hilarious moments, Stewart took to the Twitterverse to ask her followers about the "Foodgod" himself, Jonathan Cheban. The two ended up seated next to each other at the Daily Mail's 2016 "Seriously Popular Yacht Party," and when Cheban tried to convince Stewart that he, himself, was seriously popular, things went a bit haywire.

Stewart tweeted a photo of Cheban, writing, "#seriouslypopular @DailyMail @MailOnline  do you know this guy?? He says he is well known."

Less than an hour later, she snapped a picture of Cheban, writing, "Better photo of Jonathan who is very famous bff of the Kardashians who knew!"

Ever the diplomat, Stewart then took to her blog to explain what really went down with Cheban at the party, revealing, "I was sitting at the same table with him and really had no idea who he was until he started talking." She added, "Initially he was upset, but then after all the attention he saw that he was getting, he's probably not upset anymore. I seriously did not know who he was."

For his part, Cheban told the Daily Mail, "'I love her. We literally had the best dinner, she's a legend. I'm obsessed with her, she's so gorgeous. She does not watch the Kardashians, which is funny. She tweeted a picture of me just for fun then everyone went nuts. I just got like 37 Google alerts about this story about Martha and me!" He also gave her restaurant recommendations in Cannes, where the party was held.

Stewart probably won't be joining you in your Uber Pool ride anytime soon.

Unlike the rest of us, Stewart presumably has private chauffeur taking her wherever she needs to go. But in 2018, the former model attempted to take an Uber instead, and, according to her, it was a bit of a disaster.

In a series of now-deleted Instagram photos, Stewart explained her less-than-pleasant experience with the popular ride-sharing service. She shared photos of what she said was the second Uber she ordered after the first was reportedly a no-show. This one, however, was "was a mess inside and out!!!!!!!!" and went in the wrong direction, delaying her trip.

The company, for its part, apparently tried to make it right. "We were so disappointed to hear about Martha's negative experience this morning," an Uber spokesperson told Us Weekly in a statement. "We have been in touch with her as we know that every trip counts."

You won't find Stewart fighting someone over a seat at Fashion Week.

After Cardi B and Nicki Minaj famously feuded at a Harper's Bazaar Fashion Week party in September 2018, which allegedly resulted in a shoe being thrown, Stewart seemed to crack a joke about it.

She told Page Six, "Fighting during Fashion Week — it's great. I love it. I'm just kidding," adding, "Honestly, it is ridiculous. I would never fight somebody for a seat … Never. It's just not worth it."

There's one food item that you'll never find in Stewart's recipes.

It's no secret that the food guru uses the finest ingredients in her recipes, but one you won't find anywhere? Truffle oil. In fact, it seems she downright detests it, telling TODAY Food in 2018, "Oh, I would never use truffle oil, oh never. It's bad."

She added, "They've done many studies on truffle oil. It's synthetic, it's fake, it's horrible. It clings to your taste buds, it's a hideous thing. Forget truffle oil."

And you won't see her in line for a Pumpkin Spice Latte, either.

Every fall, the Pumpkin Spice Latte frenzy hits a fever pitch, with fans of the limited-edition Starbucks drink ready to enjoy it all season long. But the iconic drink's "basic" reputation isn't lost on Stewart, who revealed her thoughts in a 2017 visit to "Watch What Happens Live."

When a viewer asked her, "Martha, is pumpkin spice-everything delicious or for basic b----- only?" she responded, without hesitation, "The latter."

In fact, Stewart has more than a few gripes with millennials in general.

In a 2013 interview, Stewart threw a bit of shade towards busy millennials who don't take the time for arts and crafts with their kids.

"There's a whole generation of people who don't know how to do anything. And, I mean, I feel bad about that generation and this book is for the children of that generation. I have friends — young people, millennials — who are having babies now, who should really try to do some of these things," she told Parents.com. "They don't know how to embroider, they don't know how to sew on a button, they don't how to take up a hem, they don't know how to measure a hat. They don't know how to set in a collar, they don't know how to make the back of a shirt, they don't know how to gather a ruffle. They don't know how to knit, they don't know how to crochet, they don't know how to make lace with a little tatty tool."

She added, "People are like, 'Oh, my God, you know everything!' I don't know so much — other people just know so little."

Stewart seemed to take a dig at Oprah Winfrey on her own show.

In a 2010 appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Winfrey got Stewart to open up about her time in prison. When she asked what exactly Stewart did while locked up, Stewart responded, "I used the time extremely well and I had visitors all the time, very good visitors," adding, "Rosie O'Donnell came to visit me ... A whole lot of fabulous people came and visited me." Wondering aloud why Winfrey was never one of those visitors, she said, "I knew you were too busy, but, um…"

"Did you get my letters in prison?" Winfrey asked. "I did," Stewart responded. "I got little notes wishing me well. Thank you."

And it seems all is well between the two media titans — in 2015, Stewart posted a hilarious throwback photo of the two of them together on her personal Instagram page, asking followers to guess what year it was taken.

Stewart isn't even afraid to get honest about a friend's wedding gown.

Ever the weddings expert, Stewart has released several wedding planning-inspired books. So it makes sense why a bride-to-be might want her help when picking out a dress for her big day.

In 2016, she made a cameo on TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress," aiding her publicist's pal, Bailey, in choosing a wedding dress at the famous Kleinfeld boutique in New York City. The bride revealed, "Martha is not shy. I'm absolutely nervous about what Martha has to say."

And when she showed Stewart her first dress choice, Stewart lamented, "It's gorgeous. I just think it's a little rigid." Then, speaking directly to the camera in a private interview, she said, "Well, you have to tread lightly. You can't say that's a horrible dress that she's already chosen."

She has a long standing history with Donald Trump.

Back in 2005, Stewart signed on to host her own version of "The Apprentice," which lasted one season before Trump took the helm for subsequent seasons. The former friends seemingly had a falling out over the dissolution of the series, with Trump writing a scathing open letter to Stewart. He reportedly said, "It's about time you started taking responsibility for your failed version of 'The Apprentice.' Your performance was terrible in that the show lacked mood, temperament and just about everything else a show needs for success. I knew it would fail as soon as I first saw it — and your low ratings bore me out."

Stewart then responded in her own note, writing, "The letter is so mean-spirited and reckless that I almost can't believe my longtime friend Donald Trump wrote it. I am very proud of the work we did with Mark Burnett Productions and Mr. Trump, who was an executive producer, on 'The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.'"

Then, in a 2007 episode of her syndicated morning show, Stewart was joined by fellow "Apprentice" alum Joan Rivers, who revealed she'd been sent some Donald Trump steaks. Rivers quipped, "I thought, 'I can't eat Donald Trump.' And then they said, ‘No.' They said, ‘He owns the company, they didn't slaughter him.'" Stewart responded, "Too bad!"

She then failed to endorse Trump as he embarked on the 2016 presidential election, before seemingly ending her feud with him after his surprise win. Days after the election, she told Chicago Inc., "I sent my congratulations to the Trump family, and I think they have an opportunity — let's see how they do with it. I'm excited."

She added, "Guess what? Things change and you can't be moaning when you can't change what happened. Go with the flow!"

In 2017, after Trump was in office, though, Stewart seemingly took a turn. She posed next to a portrait of Trump and her pal Snoop Dogg at the Frieze Art Fair, giving the middle finger to the president's likeness.

But the following year, it seems Trump was considering pardoning Stewart for her 2004 crimes, telling CNN that Stewart has been "to a certain extent ... harshly and unfairly treated."

He added, "And she used to be my biggest fan in the world ... before I became a politician."

Stewart won't be serving SkinnyGirl cocktails at her soirées anytime soon.

Back in 2005, Bethenny Frankel appeared on Stewart's short-lived version of "The Apprentice," but it seems the two didn't always have a great relationship. As Frankel's career blossomed in the years after, Stewart appeared on her short-lived talk show, "Bethenny," in 2013, and Frankel used the opportunity to address Stewart's distaste for her.

"It was such a big moment in my life, I kinda just wanted to know what you were feeling," Frankel revealed. "It felt like you didn't like me to be honest with you."

"You were a pest," Stewart responded. "She was," she chuckled. "You were so out there in front of everybody you know."

Stewart also gave Frankel marriage and divorce advice, quipping, "You'll get married again. You are probably going to get married at least twice again.

Then, in 2015, in an interview on "The Late Show With Seth Meyers," Meyers asked Frankel about Stewart, and she replied, "She doesn't like me. She never really has. She's consistent ... she's always been like a parent who I'm trying to get them to love me ... she's never missed the opportunity to say something negative about me or my products."

She joked that Stewart would fit right in on the cast of Bravo's "Real Housewives."

She didn't seem to encourage Blake Lively's lifestyle ventures.

As neighbors and BFFs with Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds, Stewart has become very close with the A-list couple. But when Lively ventured into the lifestyle world with her now-shuttered blog, Preserve, Stewart had feelings about the "Gossip Girl" star being dubbed "the next Martha Stewart" by the Huffington Post.

"Let her try. I don't mean that facetiously!" she laughed. "I mean, it's stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress? I just did a movie yesterday, though — I can't even tell you about it — but I want to be Blake Lively."

  • Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra officially began dating a few years ago and they've been making headlines ever since.
  • Their lavish wedding ceremonies at the end of 2018 continued to dominate news coverage.
  • The A-list couple is currently enjoying plenty of career success in the music and film industry, but Jonas said the pair may eventually have plans to leave fame behind to live on a farm.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have dominated the headlines ever since reports the two were dating began to peak around May 2018.

Their whirlwind engagement in August of the same year, followed by an elaborate wedding featuring three ceremonies at the end of 2018, continued to keep the newlyweds in the spotlight.

And although the pair continues to dominate in the entertainment industry, Jonas said the couple might eventually leave it all behind and live on a farm.

Jonas said he's thought about living on a farm

In an interview with his brothers for Harper's Bazaar, Jonas, who has been in the spotlight for over a decade thanks to his music and acting career, shared that he's always sort of wanted to live a more quiet life.

The interviewer told the youngest band member that when they first met 11 years ago at the height of Jonas Brothers fame, Nick "seemed like the kind of kid who could happily leave stardom behind and live on a farm."

The "Chains" singer agreed, saying, "There was a part of me that thought that too." And his brothers shared that these farm dreams may not be too far from reality.

"There were times when he showed me many farms," said Kevin, with Joe adding, "Nick still shows us listings of farms. He'll say, 'There's this one in Pennsylvania,' and I'm like, 'I don't think that's a good idea.'"

He said Chopra, who is also in the entertainment industry, also seems to be on board with moving to a farm

Jonas also said that "the farm is very much in play" and said Chopra "loves the idea." Though Chopra, one of the highest-paid Indian actresses, would also be leaving quite a bit of stardom behind should the pair go off to live on a farm.

For his part, he addressed his wife's level of fame, saying, "Certainly the person I ended up falling in love with and marrying is very famous and successful and all of that. I couldn't have predicted that would happen, that life would take me down that path. The fact that she'd been working in this business for as long as I have, we could relate on that. I'm grateful to have found the right person."

Chopra herself hasn't yet publicly commented on her husband's big farm-dream reveal.

People can’t get over Beyoncé’s reaction to a woman reaching over her to talk to Jay-Z at the Warriors-Raptors game

  • Beyoncé and Jay-Z were spotted sitting courtside for Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Oakland, California, on Wednesday.
  • The couple was on hand to cheer for the Golden State Warriors as they went up against the Toronto Raptors at Oracle Arena.
  • While their team failed to take home a win, one moment caught on camera went viral.
  • A woman named Nicole Curran was seen speaking with the couple and at one point leaned over Beyoncé to talk to Jay-Z.
  • The moment quickly became a meme.
  • Visit INSIDER's homepage for more stories.

On Wednesday night, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were spotted sitting courtside for Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Oakland, California, but the evening got them a bit more attention than usual thanks to one viral moment.

They were on hand to cheer for the Golden State Warriors as they went up against the Toronto Raptors at Oracle Arena, and they sat next to the Warriors' majority owner, Joe Lacob, and his wife, Nicole Curran.

Though the Warriors didn't cinch the win, scoring 109 points to the Raptors' 123, there was one moment between Beyoncé and Curran that people on social media can't stop talking about.

In a video posted by ESPN's Twitter account during the game, Jay-Z and Beyoncé can be seen chatting with Curran and excitedly waving at fans.

In the 13-second clip, Curran can also be seen leaning over the "Formation" singer to chat with Jay-Z. The moment sent social-media users into a tailspin.

Fans tried to dissect the moment, attempting to interpret what Jay-Z and Curran might have been saying to each other, the body language of all three of them, and the conversations likely ensued between the couple on the way home from the game.

Of course, it's worth noting that these reactions are entirely speculative, and it's impossible to know exactly what was going on in this quick video clip. But that didn't stop fans from guessing.

Some users reacted to what they interpreted as Beyoncé's icy body language in the moment

Naturally, fans dished a few jokes about "Becky with the good hair," one of Beyoncé's iconic lines from her hit song "Sorry" on her album "Lemonade."

And some joked about how this may have turned into a testy date night

Neither Beyoncé nor Jay-Z commented on the video clip, but Bey did post shots of her outfit on Instagram, as well as a selfie alongside a photo and a video clip of the moment in question, though Curran was cropped out.

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

Curran also posted a screengrab from the game on her Instagram — seemingly to dispel any controversy surrounding her interactions with the rapper — of herself gesturing toward the "Lion King" star, with Jay out of the frame. She captioned the shot "We should all help and support each other" and disabled comments on the post.

Beyoncé's publicist Yvette Noel-Schure seemed to address the situation on her Instagram and asked fans to be kind to everyone.

"I am looking back today at the start of The OTRII tour, one year ago. It was a place of joy, unimaginable entertainment from two of the best performers in the world, and a place of love," she wrote. "Every single day on that tour I saw love. Which is why I also want to speak here to the beautiful BeyHiVE. I know your love runs deep but that love has to be given to every human. It will bring no joy to the person you love so much if you spew hate in her name. We love you."

NOW WATCH: 9 reasons 'Game of Thrones' season 8 was a huge disappointment

Jennifer Lopez makes 49 look like 29. Here’s how she gets such radiant skin.

jennifer lopez

  • Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has spoken a lot about her skin-care routine and how she keeps her complexion looking so glowy and smooth.
  • Lopez said she always wears SPF, drinks a lot of water, and eats plenty of fruits and vegetables. She has also said her genes have blessed her with beautiful skin.
  • Lopez reportedly uses a lot of high-end skin-care products and she also said she makes sure to sleep for at least eight hours per night.
  • Visit INSIDER's homepage for more stories.

Jennifer Lopez has been a fashion and beauty icon for decades, setting trends on and off the red carpet each year since one of her biggest breakout roles in "Selena" back in 1997.

Unsurprisingly, in 2014, she said that the thing her fans ask her about the most is her skin-care routine.

Fortunately, over the years the 49-year-old singer has been pretty open about her go-to products and the lifestyle habits that help her skin stay smooth and radiant.

Here's how Jennifer Lopez takes care of her skin.

Lopez has tried some temporary, extreme diets to prepare for roles but she seems to generally live a pretty healthy lifestyle

Earlier this year, she tried a 10-day no-carb, no-sugar challenge to prepare for her role as a stripper in "Hustlers." She later told Ellen DeGeneres that it was "really hard" because carbs and sugar make up "most of [her] diet."

And in 2018, the "Second Act" star told InStyle magazine that some of her health and beauty secrets entail avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and smoking. She has also said that working out and taking care of her body also contributes to her skin's health.

"I think drinking lots of water and [eating] fresh foods with lots of fruits and vegetables all play into the quality of [my] skin's appearance," she told People magazine in 2016.

She's also said 'good genes' have blessed her with beautiful skin

jennifer lopez

In a 2014 appearance on "Today," Lopez gave credit to her genetics for her seemingly flawless skin.

"I have to say, I have good genes, you know. My mom and my grandma have beautiful skin, so I was blessed with that, and I'm fortunate in that way," she said.

Lopez reportedly uses a lot of high-end skin-care products, too

Aside from her genetics and lifestyle habits, the "Limitless" singer reportedly has an arsenal of skin-care products at her disposal to help keep her complexion in tip-top shape.

In 2016, Lopez told Hello magazine that she uses a few prestige products to get her glow, including Lancer The Method: Cleanse, Lancer's Eye Contour Lifting Cream, and Dr. Hauschka's Rose Day Cream, all of which retail between $45 and $95.

One of her makeup gurus, Mary Phillips, told Well + Good in 2018 that Lopez is a fan of Själ's Saphir Concentrate, an anti-aging facial oil made with aquamarine, botanical retinol, blue chamomile, and a biomarine complex, which costs around $175.

And in 2018, her makeup artist Scott Barnes told PopSugar that the one product Lopez "swears by" is cult-favorite moisturizer Crème de la Mer, which sells for between $85 and $2,160 per pot.

She's also made it clear that she takes sun safety seriously

You likely won't find the "I'm Real" singer basking in the sun for hours sans protection because she takes her skin's safety seriously.

In 2016, she also told People magazine, "SPF is k-e-y" and that she uses moisturizers with SPF every day. In 2018, she told InStyle magazine that she generally tries not to stay out in the sun for too long.

She also prioritizes sleep

For Lopez, getting enough sleep is crucial. In 2018, she told InStyle magazine that in terms of skin care, her "number-one tip is to always get enough sleep"

She said she'd ideally like to sleep for nine or 10 hours per night but she always makes sure she rests for at least eight.

Lopez said she is also diligent about taking off her makeup every single night

jennifer lopez

Lopez told People magazine in 2016 that she doesn't go to bed without taking her makeup off. This is a good call considering sleeping with makeup on can cause one's pores to clog, which can lead to the development of acne.

You probably won't find her in full glam when she's off-duty

In 2018, Lopez told InStyle magazine that she gives her skin a break on her days off. She said despite her glamorous red-carpet looks, she tends to wear "little to no makeup" when she isn't working.

13 signs your excessive sweating is a sign of a serious medical condition

GettyImages 938887896

  • Sweating is the body's natural response to hot temperatures, physical activity, and even stress. But some people have hyperhidrosis, which causes them to sweat excessively in other situations too.
  • For many people with hyperhidrosis, the condition is manageable and not concerning. For others, it's a sign of a more serious medical issue, like a heart attack, infection, thyroid problem, or even cancer.
  • If you sweat excessively and aren't sure why, visit your doctor to rule out underlying medical issues and develop a treatment plan.
  • View INSIDER's homepage for more stories.

For most people, sweating is a normal and natural way for the body to help regulate its temperature and cool itself down when temps rise. But for some people, sweating is an abnormally constant part of life, soaking shirts and dampening hands no matter the weather or level of activity.

In these cases, excessive sweating is known as hyperhidrosis, which WebMD reports affects 2% to 3% of Americans. For the most part, hyperhidrosis isn't something to be too concerned about. If you're not experiencing any secondary side effects (like heat rash or skin infections) and are able to go about your normal activities, it can be little more than a nuisance that requires extra breathable clothing and strong antiperspirants.

But excessive sweating can also indicate an underlying health concern. And sometimes, it can be tricky to know the difference. INSIDER spoke with two physicians about how to know if your sweating is a sign of a bigger problem.

Excessive sweating comes on suddenly and unexpectedly

Sudden, unexpected sweating could be a sign you're stressed or anxious. This type of sweat is different from the perspiration that results from your body's attempts to cool you down because it's caused by a "surge in adrenaline," or your body's fight-or-flight response, explained Dr. Caesar Djavaherian, cofounder and chief medical officer at Carbon Health who's based in Berkeley, California

Unexpected sweating could also be "the first sign of a heart attack or an underlying heart problem," he added. If you suspect you're experiencing a heart attack, you'll want to reach out for emergency help as quickly as possible.

That said, a sudden onset of sweating isn't always a reason to panic. It "can come with certain situations, such as with warmer temperatures, spicy foods, exercise, or stress, and doesn't always mean there's a more significant underlying condition," said Dr. Marisa Garshick, a dermatologist in New York City and chief medical correspondent for Certain Dri, an over-the-counter antiperspirant. You should address any concerns with your doctor.

You also feel faint, dizzy, or lightheaded

When sweating is accompanied by a feeling of dizziness or lightheadedness, it may signal an underlying health issue like low blood sugar levels, or hypoglycemia, which may be caused by a drop in blood pressure, according to Djavaherian.

While these symptoms on their own might not seem troubling, check in with your doctor to ensure there's no underlying cause for concern.

The sweating is accompanied by insomnia, flushing, chest pain, seizures, fatigue, or increased thirst and urination

Taking stock of your overall health can help determine if excessive sweating is part of a larger issue. Insomnia plus sweating, for example, can be a sign of hyperthyroidism, Garshick said.

Sweating along with flushing (when your face and chest feel hot and change color) may signal carcinoid syndrome, or when a rare cancerous tumor secretes certain chemicals into your bloodstream, according to the Mayo Clinic

Excessive sweating paired with chest pain sometimes indicates a serious heart condition, so "it's important to always to seek immediate medical attention if you are experiencing chest pain," Garshick said.

Seizures accompanied by sweating, meanwhile, usually means people are experiencing a medication overdose, Djavaherian said. Sweating with fatigue could mean an infection or low blood pressure.

Finally, increased thirst and urination is associated with diabetes and blood glucose levels. "Sometimes, people will sweat if their blood glucose drops, such as an early warning sign of stress or strain," Djavaherian said.

You're also experiencing flu-like symptoms, including a fever or cough

Sweating accompanied by a fever may reflect a bacterial or viral infection like malaria or tuberculosis, which is also accompanied by a cough, Garshick said.

"A fever is the result of a change in body temperature — your brain automatically sets your body temperature a little higher to fight the infection present in your body, which leads to feeling cold and generating heat," Djavaherian said. "This is why it is necessary to break a fever by regulating the body temperature and sweating it out."

Often, as the fever breaks, Garshick said, people experience an increased amount of sweat.

You're experiencing other skin issues such as rash or hives

If sweat stays on your skin, you might experience itching or irritation that will go away on its own once you stop sweating or change into clean, dry clothes. But experts say that skin issues like a rash or hives might be indicative of a fungal skin infection or another medical condition.

"There are some skin conditions that can occur in association with sweating, such as cholinergic urticaria, which can cause hives in some people when the body gets hot and sweaty," Garshick said. "There are also skin rashes that can occur as a result of excessive sweating in hot or moist environments, such as heat rash or prickly heat, also known as miliaria."

As always, check in with your doctor or dermatologist to help pinpoint the cause of your skin concerns.

pills medicationYou started a new medication or a change in dosing

Sweating is a surprisingly common side effect of several medications, including:

  • Stimulants like amphetamines and caffeine
  • Some diabetic medications like sulfonylureas
  • Pain medications including opioids
  • Various psychiatric medications
  • Hormonal medications like birth control pills
  • Thyroid medications
  • Oral steroids

Since sweating is an expected side effect of some medications and can signal that the dose may need to be adjusted in others, it's something to discuss with a doctor, Garshick said.

You're under a lot of stress or experiencing panic attacks

Lots of people sweat in stressful situations, like before public speaking. But if sweating is accompanied by other symptoms of panic or anxiety, you'll want to check in with a doctor or therapist, who can help correctly diagnose any underlying mental health concerns.

"Intense emotion and stress can bring out sweating in anyone," Garshick said. "If you experience panic attacks or increased levels of stress related to a persistent and excessive worry about everyday situations, this can mean that you are also experiencing anxiety."

Anxiety-related sweating can be a vicious, self-perpetuating cycle in which the anticipation of sweating actually causes you to sweat. The good news is there are plenty of medication-based and therapeutic treatments to help ease these worries. Seeing a professional may help both manage the anxiety and the sweat.

Read more: How to overcome a panic attack, according to a psychologist

You're withdrawn socially or you feel anxious in everyday situations

If you find that you're fearful of or avoiding certain situations due to the possibility of sweating, discuss it with a trusted doctor or therapist, who can help you manage these feelings and symptoms.

"It is known that excessive sweating can have an impact on quality of life, impacting people's relationships, work, and daily life, and this can occur no matter what the reason behind the sweating is," Garshick said. A 2019 study even showed that people who experience primary hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating without a cause, have higher rates of anxiety, depression, and attention deficit disorder than the general population.

You're also experiencing sudden weight loss

If you're rapidly losing weight and sweating excessively, you may have a thyroid condition like hyperthyroidism. Infections including tuberculosis and mononucleosis, as well as certain types of cancers, can lead to these symptoms too, Garshick said.

"If you're experiencing sudden weight loss and sweating, it can mean many different things and is important to see a board-certified physician," she said.

You're sweating all over your body instead of in just one area, like the armpits or face

All-over body sweating can occur in various forms of secondary hyperhidrosis, or sweating that is caused by or associated with another disorder or medication. (Primary hyperhidrosis, meanwhile, tends to refer to excessive sweating that is in specific places like the armpits, face, or palms.)

Still, most of the time, generalized sweating is a normal reaction to heat, stress, or exercise, Djavaherian said. If you're unsure whether your experience is normal, checking with your doctor is the best course of action.

You're sweating only at night

Most people experience night sweats when it's hot outside or the temperature in their bedroom is too high. But if you're keeping the temperature in your room cool, using breathable fabrics and bedding, and still sweating excessively at night, you might have a medical concern at hand.

"Night sweats can mean an infection such as tuberculosis or the flu, or it can [be a sign of] certain types of cancer such as lymphoma," Garshick said. "It can also be related to hormonal changes such as menopause or due to a medication." Substance abuse and withdrawal can also lead to night sweats, she added.

Sweating only occurs on one side of the body

If you notice sweating only on one side of your body, you might want to check in with your doctor. Uneven sweating "can indicate a rare nervous system disorder called Harlequin syndrome, Garshick said. It could also indicate a brain tumor, abscess, or stroke, she added.

Lung cancer and Horner's syndrome, an issue with a nerve pathway, can also be tied to sweating on one side of the body, Djavaherian said.

sweating woman

You sweat for no apparent reason

If you and your doctor have ruled out all potential underlying medical conditions and other causes (like eating spicy foods or working out), you might simply have overactive sweat glands.

"Some people have overactive sweat glands, so even the smallest stimulation will cause them to sweat," said Djavaherian, adding that this isn't necessarily "a sign of a bigger problem."

It also can be quite manageable with treatments like antiperspirants. "If that's not enough," Garshick said, "you can speak with a board-certified dermatologist regarding other treatment options including prescription antiperspirants, oral medications, topical wipes, Botox injections, and more."

NOW WATCH: Here's why some people sweat more than others

12 ways your skin can react to stress, according to a dermatologist

stressed working computer laptop night

  • Stress can take a toll on your body.
  • It can also take a toll on your skin.
  • It may lead to acne.
  • It may also lead to sweating.
  • Visit INSIDER's homepage for more stories.

As more and more of us face increasing demands at work and at home, it's no secret that feeling chronically stressed can impact our health in many ways, affecting us both mentally and physically.

Chronic stress messes with your body in several ways — from sleepless nights to appetite changes, your body can react in seemingly unusual ways when you're experiencing a lot of stress.

It turns out that your stress levels can seriously impact your skin, exacerbating existing skin conditions like eczema or rosacea, and causing side effects like excessive sweating or even hair loss.

In fact, the link between skin and stress is becoming better understood in the medical community. "Psychodermatology is a field that addresses the impact of an individual's emotion as it relates to the skin," Karen Mallin, PsyD, an instructor in the departments of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and dermatology & cutaneous surgery of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami told WebMD.

INSIDER spoke with Marisa Garshick, MD and Certain Dri chief medical correspondent, and she told us all about the many ways your skin can be impacted by your stress levels.

You might deal with acne breakouts when you’re under stress.

By now, many popular myths surrounding acne have long been disproven, and we know that it's not just teenagers who battle breakouts. Adult acne is surprisingly common and has many causes, with stress being a major trigger.

"It is very common for people to experience breakouts when stressed," explained Garshick, and it's all due to hormonal changes our bodies experience during times of stress. "Your body releases stress hormones including cortisol, which may increase the skin's oil production, making you prone to breakouts."

If you're suddenly battling breakouts and can't figure out why, you might want to check in with your stress levels.

Eczema flare-ups might be worse during stressful times.

If you have eczema, a skin condition which typically presents as a red, itchy rash, you might find that flare-ups are markedly worse during stressful times, explained Garshick. "Some people with eczema may find that their flare-ups start or worsen with increased stress. Once eczema is active on the skin, that can also lead to more stress as it can be itchy and uncomfortable for patients, so it can lead a vicious cycle. This is because stress can increase inflammation which can trigger an eczema flare."

"Also, when the skin is dry, which can occur when the skin is stressed, it tends to be more prone to an eczema flare," she added, so keeping skin adequately moisturized is crucial to help minimize irritation.

People with rosacea might also notice an uptick in symptoms.

Just as inflammation can cause an eczema flare, it can also trigger a flare-up in those who suffer from rosacea, as Garshick told INSIDER. "It is well-known that rosacea, characterized by red bumps, redness or flushing, can have many triggers, including stress. Being stressed can trigger an inflammatory response that can aggravate the skin, increase redness and bumps."

You might notice that you break out in hives when you’re acutely stressed.

"Hives, which is also known as urticaria, is due to an increase in histamine levels" in the body, said Garshick. "While many times the triggers for hives is unknown, it can be due to a recent infection, [new or change in dose of a] medication, food [allergy or intolerance], or stress. Stress can trigger or worsen hives by increasing the release of histamine."

Any sudden skin reaction should be examined by your doctor or dermatologist, who can determine if it's stress-related or has another underlying cause.

The skin around your eyes might look puffy or dark circles might look more pronounced.

It's common for many of us to experience dark undereye circles after a few sleepless nights, and Garshick explains that when we're stressed out, we might pick up habits that literally lead to stress showing up on our faces.

"Often when we are stressed, we are not always as good about taking care of ourselves, getting sleep, staying hydrated or eating well, all of which can lead to worsened under eye appearance," she said.

There's no shortage of skin-care products on the market designed to reduce or help deep under eye circles, but it also might help to check in with your mental health before dropping big bucks on pricey creams, lotions, and potions.

Your skin might also look sallow or dull.

Similarly, if you've noticed that your overall skin tone isn't as bright these days, it might be a matter of stress showing itself on your face. "When stressed, we often forget to take care of our skin or apply our typical creams. As a result, the skin can look sallow and/or dull."

For many people, skin care is a form of self-care, so if you find that your routine helps relax you, you might want to keep at it, even when you're feeling extra stressed.

The relationship between stress and psoriasis is cyclical.

Unfortunately for those who suffer from psoriasis, a skin condition marked by thick, scaly patches of skin that might appear all over the body, stress and psoriasis can be a vicious cycle.

"Stress can be considered a trigger of a psoriasis flare, but a psoriasis flare can also cause stress," said Garshick. "Stress may trigger psoriasis by increasing inflammatory markers that are involved in psoriasis. Although more research is needed to determine the exact mechanism, one 2004 study showed that 66% of psoriasis patients reported that their psoriasis was exacerbated by stress."

Your doctor or dermatologist can help alleviate this catch-22 if you find that your psoriasis is worsened by stress or vice versa.

Your skin might feel dry or flaky.

If you're noticing an overall change in your skin's texture, check in with your stress levels. "When the skin is stressed, cortisol can lead to a decrease in the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which can lead to moisture loss in the skin, leading to the skin looking dehydrated," said Garshick. "We often also forget to apply moisturizing cream and our normal routine when stressed, so this can also affect how the skin looks."

Your sweat glands might be on overdrive during moments of stress.

Sweating before a big meeting or a public speech is surprisingly common, yet sudden sweating in a stressful situation can make even the most confident person feel even more stressed.

"When the body is reacting to a stressful situation, it often responds with sweating," said Garshick. "Stress leads to the release of sweat from our apocrine glands after an increase in adrenaline as part of the body's fight-or-flight response. Although this sweat can be considered situational, it can still respond to standard treatments for sweating such as OTC antiperspirants like Certain Dri, or prescription medications that are available through your dermatologist."

Stress can age your skin more quickly.

Though there's no shortage of products out there that claim to slow the skin's aging process, one thing is clear: chronic stress can show up on your face, possibly leading you to look older than you actually are.

"Stress can lead to increased cortisol which has been shown to break down collagen and decrease synthesis of hyaluronic acid," said Garshick, noting that the loss of collagen and hyaluronic acid "can lead to fine lines and wrinkles over time."

"Stress can also increase free radical formation which can lead to skin aging," she added.

It might be harder for your skin to repair itself after an injury.

According to Science Daily, a 2001 study in the Archives of Dermatology found that water loss experienced when you're stressed can hinder skin's ability to repair itself after an injury. In 2007, dermatologist Flor A. Mayoral, MD, FAAD, clinical instructor in the departments of dermatology and cutaneous surgery at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine spoke about the link, pointing out that the study "was the first of its kind to suggest what dermatologists anecdotally have known for years – that psychological stress adversely affects the normal functions of the skin."

"This can be related to the fact that stress can lead to inflammation and some inflammatory markers can inhibit or prevent proper healing of a wound," Garshick told INSIDER. "Additionally, since stress can also impact the skin barrier, it may be harder for the skin to repair itself."

Stress can also lead to hair loss.

If you're noticing a marked change in hair shedding lately, you might be battling stress, explained Garshick. "There is a type of hair loss, telogen effluvium, that can be related to physical or emotional stress. With this, people notice hair thinning or hair falling out which can sometimes be noticed months after the original stress took place. The stress triggers inflammatory markers that cause the hairs to all go into the resting phase too early, which leads to the eventual loss of the hair two or three months after the original stressful trigger.

She noted that "this type of hair shedding is often considered temporary," but if you're concerned about the amount of hair you're losing, see your doctor or dermatologist, who can help determine the cause of your hair loss.
